A Survey of Bandwidth and Profile Reduction Algorithms

As of 1980 over 50 bandwidth and/or profile reduction algorithms have appeared in the literature. This paper traces the development of the major reduction algorithms and discusses how automatic reduction algorithms can be compared and evaluated. (Author)
