Finite amplitude acoustic standing waves in a rectangular airfilled cavity with various wedge-shape boundary perturbations were studied both experimentally and theoretically. The experimental results showed that geometrical perturbations alter the finite amplitude behavior of the cavity and that the nature of these changes are in qualitative agreement with the predictions of the theory. However, quantitative agreement was not observed possibly because the perturbation chosen did not satisfy all the assumptions of theory. There does not seem to be any fundamental obstacle preventing the choice of a perturbation that would allow the theory to be critically tested. (Author)
