Mathematics Skill Levels in Navy Class 'A' Electronics Schools

Based on results of a survey that identified the mathematics skills needed to perform successfully in Navy electronics 'A' schools, mathematics tests were developed to assess the mathematics skills of entering and graduating electronics 'A' school students. The tests were administered to about 1000 entering and 1200 graduating students at 'A' schools for nine electronics ratings. Analysis of test scores obtained showed revealed significant differences between entering and graduating students on these mathematics topics taught as part of the electronics course training. However, no significant differences were found between the two groups on topics that were prerequisites to the training. (Author)
