The Evaluation of a Job-Oriented Basic Skills Training Program

This report describes the interim evaluation of four training courses for Navy personnel whose ASVAB scores were below the minimum required for entry into Navy Class A technical schools. The training courses were designed to increase their mastery of the skills and knowledge deemed to be prerequisites for success in selected Class A schools. Data indicate that the JOBS program has the potential for attenuating Navy technical manpower shortages and contributing to minority upward mobility. (Author)
