Preliminary Assessment of Antifungal Latex Emulsions Based on a Chemically Anchored Antifungal Compound

A series of latex emulsions formulated with an experimental fungicide pentachlorophenyl acrylate (PCPA) copolymerized in linear arrangement were tested for fungicidal activity. Tests were performed by inoculating the emulsion films with several fungal species on nutrient agar. PCPA showed differential fungicidal activity against the various fungal species. The results suggest that more extensive tests, such as outdoor exposure trials, are warranted. (Author)
