An M-ary communication channel is described employing orthogonal pulse compression waveforms. An example is presented and analyzed based upon maximum length 7-stage binary shift register (SR) codes (M = 16). Curves of error probability are computed from M-ary communication theory fundamentals and the 7-bit SR code example is shown to provide acceptable error probability (less than 0.00001) for output signal to noise ratio above 17dB based upon 120 calculated crosscorrelation functions.
