Cultural Resources Reconnaissance for Proposed Flood Control Measures at Cramerton, Gaston County, North Carolina.

This survey was conducted in order to assess the impact of proposed flood control measures on historic and prehistoric cultural resources within the area of Cramerton, Gaston County, North Carolina. The research, consisting of a literature and records search and an archeological field reconnaissance, indicates continuous human habitation in the study area for the past 12,000 years. Nine archeological sites and several historic-period structures were documented, and recommendations are presented for mitigating possible adverse effects on these cultural resources. (Author)
