This study investigates the need to construct an extension of the Federal Buttermilk Bay Channel, Bourne, Massachusetts for recreational and Navigational purposes. The recommended plan entails a channel extension 2,500 feet long of which only 300 feet would require dredging. The channel would be 80 feet wide and have a depth of -6 feet at mean low water(mlw). Approx. 1,350 cubic yards of sand and gravel and 10 large boulders buried beneath the channel would be removed. The project has a benefit-cost ratio of 1.9:1 for construction.
