摘要

Studies related to the mechanisms whereby receptor ligands complexes are transmitted from the plasma membrane through coated pits, coated vesicles, and receptosomes to the Golgi region of the cell were reviewed, These studies are of fundamental importance in macromolecular transport in diverse systems. The receptor system for fucose mannose BSA was discussed. The characteristics of this receptor and its inhibition were delineated. This receptor is important in the fate of lysosomal enzymes, opsonization, and perhaps macrophage-lymphocyte interaction. Recent novel observations on the regulation of leukocyte chemotaxis were presented and basic mechanisms of neutophil and macrophage adherence and motility were reviewed. Receptors for low density lipoproteins in relationship to accumulation of lipids by macrophages and athregensis were considered. The modulation of macrophage function by prostaglandins and leukotrienes was illustrated. The mast cell, neutrophil and monocyte-derived platelet activating factor has been characterized and its effects on various cell types described. Receptors for IgG2A and IgG2B are described and characterized. Discussed are genetic control of macrophage response to microorganisms and parasites. Discussed are oxidative mechanisms for bacterial activity. Reviewed are non-oxidative microibicidal mechanisms. Described are a new bacterial bactericidal permeability increasing protein which is important in killing bacteria.
