Information Engineering: On-Line Analysis of Information Search and Utilization.

摘要

This research is part of an ongoing effort to understand the processes people employ in reading technical material and the way in which information engineering can facilitate those processes. This study provided a detailed and hierarchically organized information structure as part of a computer-assisted job-aiding procedure for an assembly task. The central questions were: where people have easy access to many kinds of information, what information do they select to help them do the job, how do people vary, how does information selection differ across sites in the text and graphics. The results of this experiment provide preliminary answers to these questions and serve as the basis for our continuing research in this area. (Author)
