摘要

Electrochemical reactions in D.C. electroslag welding can produce significant changes in chemical composition. Chromium, manganese, and silicon losses are caused by oxidation at the anode. Oxygen pickup is caused by the discharge of oxygen anions in the flux, and aluminum pickup is caused by the reduction of aluminum cations at the cathode. The current efficiencies for electrochemical reactions involving chromium, manganese, silicon, molybdenum, oxygen, and aluminum increase with increasing current density. The concentration change caused by an electrochemical reaction is directly proportional to the welding current and to the current efficiency for the reaction, and is inversely proportional to the welding current and to the current efficiency for the reaction, and is inversely proportional to the electrode melting rate. Keywords: Welding fluxes.
