Report developed under Small Business Innovation Research contract. This report describes the results of the research conducted by Dignitas Technologies, LLC, from January 2011 to July 2011, under the Algorithms for Ground Soldier Based Simulations and Decision Support Applications (Tactical Aids) Phase I Small SBIR contract awarded by the Natick Soldier Research, Development and Engineering Center. Dignitas identified, designed and documented detailed methodology descriptions for two terrain reasoning algorithms (Agent Route Planning and Agent Overwatch Position) meant to enhance both constructive simulation (situations traditionally heavily scripted in extensive detail) and operational capabilities (capabilities delivered to aid our Warfighters). The team created many supporting analysis artifacts and also implemented a prototype graphical user interface (GUI) to help illustrate how the complex data input requirements for these services would be met. A secondary artifact, albeit less tangible, was an enhanced understanding of IWARS functionality and capabilities, which provided insight into how other Army applications can benefit IWARS and vice versa.
