摘要

This report presents a case study conducted by the U.S. Army Construction Engineering Research Laboratory (CERL) on a fast-tracked, design/build project done for the Corps of Engineers. Two 196,000 sq ft buildings were completed in just 19 months from start of design to beneficial occupancy. Construction and design costs were $18 million, and contingency costs were $200,000. Industrialized building components were used extensively. The completed buildings met or exceeded all Corps construction standards. Significant savings were achieved in construction time, construction cost, design costs, and contract claims over what could have been anticipated had this facility been produced using the traditional method.
