White Paper. An Overview of How the IFFN (Identification Friend, Foe, or Neutral) Evaluation Testbed System Will Be Used

This paper describes how the Identification Friend, Foe, or Neutral (IFFN) Evaluation Testbed Systems will be used to investigate aircraft identification problems in combat air defense. The system will fulfill the urgent needs of realism, analysis of air defense reactions, and flexibility. These needs will be met through a large-scale Central Simulation Facility and inclusion of both live and simulated participating units such as a PATRIOT Battery. The three major subsystems, all automated to the greatest extent practicable and designed for use by operational personnel are: pretest, which includes test specification, scenario planning, and scenario generation; realtime; which includes initialization, setup, warmup, realtime trial, and end of trial; and posttest, which includes data collection, reduction, and analysis.
