Potential Cost Savings Associated with a Reduction of Stress Fractures among US Army Basic Trainees

This study examined the potential cost savings of implementing programs to reduce the incidence of lower extremity stress fractures in basic training. The author predicted a potential cost savings of over one million dollar annually based on a 60% reduction in incidence of stress fractures. The author proposes a program to implement that should achieve a 60% reduction in the incidence of stress fractures. Keywords: Prevention; Stress physiology cost effectiveness; Theses. (AW)
