Thermal Expansion of Ten Grimm-Sommerfeld Compounds

摘要

Thermal expansion is an important property that relates directly to bonding forces between atoms in a solid material. Knowledge of thermal expansion also has practical value for the design of engineering devices and systems. Grimm-Sommerfeld compounds, those materials that have an average number of valence electrons per atom equal to four, are of interest because of their technical applications as semiconductors and geothermometers and additionally because of their importance as model materials for crystal-chemistry studies.
