Frozen Precipitation and Concurrent Weather: A Case Study for Munchen/Riem, West Germany

摘要

This study evaluates data for two or more meteorological parameters, recorded concurrently, to improve prediction of atmospheric conditions that would obscure a winter battlefield. The analysis considers only freezing precipitation types that were categorized and correlated with simultaneously observed weather conditions, such as temperature, humidity and visibility, using 11 years of winter weather records for Munchen/Riem, Federal Republic of Germany. These results are an example of the unusual and essential environmental information that can be derived from available records. It is suggested that similar investigations should be conducted for other sites in central Europe.
