The perfluoronitrosocyclealkanes, heptafluoronitrosocyclobutane and nonafluoronitrosocyclopentane, are convenient precursors to a family of new perfluorocycloalkyl(aryl) diazenes. With aniline and o-aminobenzamide, (CF2)(CF2)xCFN=NC(CH)4CH and CF2(CF2)xCFN=NC(CH)4CC(O)NH2 (x = 2,3) are formed. Additionally, heptafluoronitrosocyclobutane gives CF2(CF2)2CFN=NCCFCFCHCFCF and CF2(CF2)2CFN=NC(CH)4CNH2 with 2,3,5,6-tetrafluoroaniline and o-phenylenediamine.
