Selection of a Man-Modelling CAD (Computer-Aided Design).

DCEIM has been tasked to review Canadian Forces (CF) aircrew/cockpit compatibility and to make recommendations regarding future aircrew selection standards. Computer man-modelling has been proposed as the method to address the evaluation. In this report, three potential computer-aided design, man-modelling programs (CAR, COMBIMAN and SAMMIE) are evaluated. The ELECTRE multi-criteria decision making process was used to select the most appropriate program. The criteria were based on man-modelling and workspace-modelling features, and the capabilities to address the problems of reach, clearance and vision in aircraft crew stations. The results of the analysis support the recommendation to procure SAMMIE. SAMMIE was also found to be suitable to other work station design applications.
