Variable Length Coding Schemes for Collision-Free Channel Access

Variable length coding schemes considered for collision-free access to a single broadcast channel. The schemes are intended to operate efficiently with a large finite number of users under all traffic conditions including heavy channel loads with bursty traffic. The method also allows for the establishment of priority users and a short, bounded delay for high priority messages. (Reprints).
