摘要

Novel transmissometry techniques developed for use in support of long path extinction measurements are described along with samples of data from natural and manmade obscurants. Advantages derived from these new techniques include precise control over field of view (FOV), ultra-low drift rates in system baseline response, identical alignment of all multispectral wavelength bands, and negligible humidity and temperature effects on system performance. A multispectral differential field of view technique developed for use with the U.S. Army Atmospheric Sciences Laboratory's SMART system is described along with measurement results. The differential field of view results have implications on sharply peaked forward scatter phase functions in the presence of obscurants from visible to 14-micrometer wavelengths.
