摘要

Due to hydrogen bonding, the spontaneous Raman spectra of bulk water (H2O and D2O) are the broadest (approx. 400 cm-1) of all liquids. Interpretations of such spectra have led to two different models for the structure of water, a mixtures model and a continuum model. The stimulated Raman scattering (SRS) of bulk profile, can lead to complications which are inherent in the Spontanous Raman Scattering (SRS) process. The large fluctuations in the observed SRS spectra of water in a 10 cm cell could result from: (1) self-phase modulation, which can cause spectral broadening, (2) self-focusing, which can disrupt the thermal equilibrium within the filameters, and (3) Raman noise, which dictates the SRS emission within the Raman gain profile.
