A high speed, single-board digital signal processor has been developed at the AEDC for frequency domain analysis of laser velocimeter signals. The analysis is facilitated by the discrete Fourier transform (DFT), which is used to determine a signal's spectral content. The processor consists of a microprogrammable microprocessor controlling circuitry specially designed for fast, efficient computation of the DFT. The DFT computation circuitry, which features a dual multiplier/accumulator architecture, allows computation of one DFT coefficient per 11.3 microsec for 113 data samples. The microprocessor searches for a dominant maximum in the frequency spectrum corresponding to the frequency of the input signal burst. Results from a laboratory evaluation of the processor are also included.
