Solutions of the acryloid polymer K125-EA in dipropylene glycol monomethyl ether (DPKM) have been widely used at the Defence Research Establishment Suffield (DRES) and at other laboratories as simulants for chemical agents in equipment testing and procedural development. The rheology of the widely used simulant system, acryloid polymer K125-EA/dipropylene glycol monomethyl ether (DPM), has been investigated in detail using a variety of experimental techniques. Data is given for viscosity as a function of concentration and temperature and for first normal stress difference, storage and loss moduli as functions of concentration at 25 C. Various theoretical relationships between the material parameters are discussed in detail.
