Requirements for the Next Generation Packet Switch

This report discusses the requirements for the next generation packet switch, to be used in the Defense Data network. These requirements are based upon examination of the current and anticipated trends in the Defense Data network and upon packet switch hardware and software technology trends. Specific requirements are then developed for the next generation packet switch performance, reliability, maintainability and configuration.
