Current Situation of the CAAC (Civil Aviation Administration of China)

This reprinted article disusses the Civil Aviation of China (CAAC)--its equipment and service. After diplomatic relations were restored with the U.S. CAAC began buying Boeing - 737s and 747s. This improved service CAAC flew to more places, served better meals and quit buying planes from Russia and quite renting lanes from Pakistan. The CAA controls all Chinese commercial airlines from purchasing planes to managing runways and airport buildings. They fly 3.8 million passengers a year, employ 50,000 people and own 500 airplanes. This is large even compared to U.S. standards.
