Host-Feeding Patterns of Anopheles sergentii and An. multicolor (Diptera: Culicidae in Siwa and El Gara Oases, Egypt

Blood meals from 425 Anopheles sergentii and 62 An. multicolor collected from Siwa and ElGara Oases in the Western Desert of Egypt were identified by the precipitin test. Specimens of both species from inside houses had fed predominantly on humans, and those from animal sheds had fed predominantly on domestic mammals. The proportion feeding on humans in both houses and sheds was 22% for An. sergentii and 14% for An. multicolor.
