Evaluating Software Testing Methods to Reduce Testing Duplication in U.S. Army Communications Equipment Acquisition

The purpose of this thesis was to compare the software testing procedures at Fort Monmouth NJ by three offices and compare them against an industry baseline developed from current literature on software testing and program management. Program management offices at Fort Monmouth use two Communications- Electronics Command (CECOM) test agencies, the Center for Life Cycle Software Engineering (CLCSE) and the Produce Assurance and Test Directorate (PA&T), to monitor and evaluate software both in terms of life cycle support and acceptance testing. This study had three objectives: (1) Develop an industry standard on software testing based on current literature. (2) Transform this industry standard into an interview questionnaire and conduct personal interviews with personnel in the three offices. (3) Identify similarities and differences between the industry baseline and a composite of the interview results.
