Sliding Ellipsoidal Inhomogeneities under Shear

It was found by the authors that when an ellipsoidal inclusion (with the same elastic moduli as the matrix) is subjected to a uniform shear-type eigenstrain in the directions of the principal axes of the ellipsoid and cannot sustain any shear traction along the interface, the stress field vanishes everywhere by leaving a slide along the interface. In this paper, we consider an ellipsoidal inhomogeneity under shear and investigate constitutive equations of composite materials as an application of this unexpected result of the sliding shear-type inclusion.
