摘要

The body of revolution had a length to diameter ratio of 9.5 and was tested with a square tipped and a round tipped fin. A two component strain gage balance was used to measure the force and moment on the fins. Laser doppler velocimetry techniques were used to measure velocity contours about the body and fin. Strain gage data was plotted for various angles of attack and Reynolds numbers ranging up to 5 million based on the chord length of the fin. These curves were combined to obtain lift versus angle of attack data for the two fins. From the laser velocity data, velocity plots were generated to verify location of vorticies. Numerical integration of the laser velocity data yielded circulation values for the velocity contours. Circulation, forces and theory are compared. Coefficient of lift versus angle of attack for the two fins, circulation values at various radii from the body, circulation values at various spans on the fin, and comparisons between the methods are presented.
