Environmental and Water Quality Operational Studies. Supplemental Limnological Studies at Richard B. Russell and Clarks Hill Lakes, 1983-1985

A 3-year, comprehensive water quality study was initiated in 1983 at Richard B. Russell and Clarks Hill Lakes, Georgia-South Carolina. Objectives of study were to evaluate water quality changes in both lakes following the impoundment of Richard B. Russell Lake and to monitor the performance of an oxygenation system installed in the forebay of Richard B. Russell Lake. In addition to this study, supplemental studies were conducted to provide more detailed information concerning processes influencing water quality conditions in the two lakes. Results of these studies, which centered on establishment of biological communities, decomposition, nutrient and metal dynamics, sediment/water exchanges, and interactions between the lakes, were presented at a symposium held 5-6 February 1985 at Hickory Knob State Park, McCormick S.C. This report documents results presented at the symposium.
