Diels-Alder Reactions of 1,1-dimethyl-2,3,4,5-tetraphenyl-1-silacyclopentadiene, 1,1-dimethyl-2,5-diphenyl-1-silacyclopentadiene and 1,1-dimethyl-3,4-diphenyl-1-silacyclopentadiene with Maleic Anhydride; Kinetic Measurements

Diels-Alder reactions of 1,1-dimethyl-2,3,4,5-tetraphenyl 1-1-silacyclopentadiene, 1,1-dimethyl-2,5-diphenyl-1-silacyclopentadiene and 1,1dimethyl-3,4-diphenyl-2silacyclopentadiene with maleic anhydride have been carried out. The rates of these second order reactions have been measured by Hydrogen Fourier Transform Nuclear Magnetic Resonance over a range of temperatures. Arrhenius plots of these data yield the activation parameters for these reactions. The synthesis of 1,1-dimethyl-3,4-diphenyl-1-silacyclopentadiene is reported. Reprints. (AW)
