摘要

This is a final report on research performed, under AF OSR Grant-87-0284 for the period 1 June 1987 to 31 May 1988, on microstructural dynamics of particulate and granular media. Methods of statistical physics have been applied to the interpretation of computer simulations of the mechanical and transport properties of granular materials and disordered solids. A new continuum theory of Reynolds dilatancy in granular masses has been developed and a mechanical test facility has been developed under joint funding from the National Science Foundation.
