Burden Sharing: The Case of the Federal Republic of Germany

Sharing the cost of the NATO alliance is a popular argument often raised in America. This thesis examines not only the standard concept of defense spending which is used by the United States, but also looks at contributions made by West Germany in other areas that strengthening the alliance. Research reveals that after taking into account all these factors, that West Germany contributes at least as much, if not more, than the United States. (fr)
