The effects of a wide variety of endogenous and exogenous immunomodulators were applied in mouse models permitting in vivo and in vitro analysis of effector mechanisms in rapid non-specific resistance. Major attention was given to models in which circulating monocytes and NK cells were depleted in short-term and long-term administration of the bone-seeking isotope, strontium. Techniques for the use of free and liposome-encapsulated cytotoxins were studied in vitro and in vivo. Toxins included ricin, ricin A-chain and dichloromethylene diphosphonate (DMDP).
