Preliminary results on deuterium and Caron-13 NMR studies of deuterated coupling agents adsorbed on silica (Cab-O-Sil) surfaces are reported. We also report the synthesis of both deuterated aminopropylsilane and deuterated aminobutylsilane. Carbon-13 magic angle spinning studies show that the deuterated carbons do not cross-polarize efficiently. Wide-line deuterium NMR studies suggest that the molecular motion of the coupling agent significantly increases with the addition of water.
