摘要

The nature o the core level reflected in x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, Auger electron spectrosocopy, and x-ray absorption near edge structure is considered. An understanding of the effects of anion and cation electronegativity on spectra for the transition metal halides is obtained. This knowledge is applied to understand similar spectra for the high temperature superconductors. (RRH)
