Video Tape Recording of Agents/Simulants Spreading on Chemical Agent Detector Paper

摘要

The spreading rate of agents or simulants on chemical agent detector paper was video tape recorded. The simulants used were methyl salicylate, thickened methyl salicylate, and thickened methyl diethyl malonate. The agents were HD and HL. The thickened agents were HD, HL, and GD. The low viscosity simulants and agents were dispensed on the chemical detector paper with micro-syringes. The corresponding thickened simulants and agents were dispensed gravimetrically using a metal probe. A linear correlation was obtained between the volume of methyl salicylate and the diameter spread squared. The weight of thickened methyl salicylate seems to correlate with both diameter squared and diameter cubed. The 54 tapes recorded were further analyzed in a different laboratory for spreading rate determination.
