摘要

The goal of this multi-investigator research program is to characterize the extra-cellular slime of selected marine gliding bacteria. We are particularly interested in the role of this material in bacterial adhesion and motility. Slime produced by marine Cytophagales isolated from biofilms on various substrata will be characterized with fine structural, physiological, biochemical, immunological and rheological approaches. A model system for these studies is the relatively well characterized strain Cytophaga sp. U67. Keywords: Adhesion, Biofilm, Cytophagales, Gliding Bacteria. Motility, Slime. (JES)
