摘要

The TAT concludes that Japanese excellence in manufacturing as manifested in the rapid commercialization of new technologies, superior productivity and high quality is not due to access to better automation or manufacturing technology, but to a pervasive and deep belief in the strategic importance of manufacturing excellence, better exploitation of advanced process technologies, and to smarter management and organization. While Japanese cultural factors and government policies play a role, the TAT believes that the most important determiners of Japanese manufacturing performance are the continual management attention to, and investment in, manufacturing, and Japanese engineering techniques, and management practices. Japanese excellence in manufacturing originates with the Japanese belief that through continuous economic growth Japan will obtain its proper place in the world. (jhd)
