Enhanced Preliminary Assessment Report: Burlington Army Housing Units, Burlington, Massachusetts.

Argonne National Laboratory has conducted an enhanced preliminary assessment of the Army housing property located in Burlington, MA. The objectives of this assessment include identifying and characterizing all environmentally significant operations, identifying areas of environmental contamination that may require immediate remedial actions, identifying other actions which may be necessary to resolve all identified environmental concerns that may present impediments to be expeditious sale of this property. There are no imminent or substantial threats to human health or the environment at the Burlington housing area and therefore no need for immediate remedial action. Some environmental concerns, however, have been identified. The following action is recommended prior to release of this property: Sample soils in the area of the former sewage-treatment facility to determine the possible presence of hazardous constituents. The recommendation is based on the assumption that this property will most likely continue to be used for residential housing. (KT)
