Literature Review on the Mechanism of Action of Sulphur and Nitrogen Mustard.

The literature describing the mechanism of action of sulphur and nitrogen mustard is reviewed. The conclusion drawn is that the available evidence suggests that DNA is the most important molecular target of these compounds. However, the final outcome of poisoning is modulated by other factors such as DNA repair, glutathione levels and drug transport. (aw)
