Use of Aviation 3-M Information Outputs by Organizational Maintenance Users.

This thesis presents the results of a study concerning the use of information outputs from the Aviation 3-M System by organizational level maintenance users. Specifically examined are Naval Aviation Maintenance Support Office (NAMSO) information reports, Naval Aviation Logistics Data Analysis (NALDA) information outputs, and squadron-generated monthly 3-M summaries. A survey using unstructured interviews with squadron data analysts and maintenance managers was conducted to investigate how the information outputs are meeting users' needs and in what capacity. A review of the Aviation 3-M System, the information products derived and results of the survey are presented. It is shown that such outputs have limited impact on decision making in organizational level maintenance due to the time lag of 3-M data. Keywords: Aircraft maintenance management. (kr)
