A probe (TFWOES) combining three orthogonal hot-film anemometers and a wind octant electronic sensor, for use in plant canopy flow research, is described. The probe is stationary, small, fast response and sensitive to low wind velocities. It is stable in field uses. Holder interference in reversing flows with high turbulence intensity reduces the accuracy of measurements when the wind approach angle is > 120 deg from parallel to the probe axis.
