摘要

Stable isotope methods were developed for studies of dynamics of turnover of total body water, extracellular and intracellular fluid volume, total body potassium and magnesium. The methods were based on the new technique of inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry. These methods were then applied for studies of distribution of body water in micro swine, studies of total body potassium and magnesium in the rat, and investigation of turnover of endogenous body potassium and magnesium in the mouse. It was shown that these methods permit detailed investigation of dynamics of electrolyte turnover. Compartmentation of body magnesium was investigated under the conditions of dietary magnesium restriction. It was found that important shifts occurred in terms of exchangeability of organ magnesium under these conditions.
