The U.K. Information Technology (IT) 1990 Conference took place at the University of Southampton, March 19-22, 1990. The conference was organized by the Computing & Control Division, Institution of Electrical Engineers, along with the British Computer Society, the Department of Trade and Industry, and the Science and Engineering Research Council. To some degree, it replaces the Alvey Conferences held annually between 1983 and 1988. The main topics covered in this conference were each supported by several technical papers. The main topics covered were: The Cycle of Software Engineering; Knowledge, Acquisition, and Development Methodology; Security and Fault Tolerance; Systems, Concurrency, Real Time; Vision; Control Systems & Environments; Formal Modeling Methods: System, Quality, Metrics; Parallel & Distributed Architecture; VLSI; Experimental Systems; Formal Aspects; System Design; Tools; Instrumentation & Intelligence; KBS; Speech Applications; Object Oriented Systems: KBS with Other Technologies; and Speech Language and Vision.
