This report addresses the problem of streambank erosion on Cedar Creek at CountryBridge No. F-2-1-20-00 near Hiteman, Monroe County, Iowa. The study area is located on the right descending bankline at the north bridge abutment, in sec. 2, T. 72 N., R. 18 W., Guilford Township. A study was initiated on April 12, 1989, to provide assistance to Monroe County for protecting the north bridge abutment from further damages due to the eroding bankline. This Definite Project Report recommends that riprap be placed along approximately 350 linear feet of the bankline at the north bridge abutment. It also recommends that a farm drainage ditch on the upstream side of the abutment be straightened and riprapped to divert the drainage from the bridge abutment and piers. The total estimated cost for the project is $43,850, with a benefit-to-cost ratio of 9.0. The project satisfies the criteria for Federal participation and is recommended for construction. (edc)
