摘要

A simple function is derived which gives the ratio of the maximum single-longitudinal-mode inversion density to the threshold inversion density for a standing-wave laser in terms of the cavity geometry and material parameters. This function accounts for the effects of spatial hole burning and energy diffusion, and can be used as a practical guideline in the design of single-frequency lasers.
