Toxicity of GD and HL Simulants and the Chemical Agent Disclosure Solution toDaphnia magna

The aquatic toxicities of GD and HL simulants and the Chemical Agent DisclosureSolution (CADS) were examined. Acute 48-hr bioassays using the water flea, Daphnia magna, were performed. The EC50 (based on a percent volume/volume dilution) was determined to be 0.401% (GD), 0.0845% (CADS), and 0.058% (HL). During field testing, the possibility exists that wind and/or rain can cause the simulants to be introduced into the surrounding bodies of water. Therefore, caution should be used to prevent spills and run off during field trials.
