A performance management team focused on the process of reviewing projectsdesigned by architect-engineers and the Corps of Engineers. As a result improvements to the process were made such as more timely and better comments being provided to the designers. A three day training course was developed. This course was created to provide the tools and attitudes needed to begin performance management effort in other Engineering Branches. The course was designed to provide a starting point, and as a guide to the performance management effort. It was structured to be presented at the squadron location, in order to teach people in their own environment. Topics included the distinctives of the engineering environment, understanding the process framework, the use of measurement in evaluating work processes, and the employee participation. The course was recommended for the base level Engineering Branch.
